JRSRP is an exemplar government/academic partnership. JRSRP is managed by an advisory committee comprising representatives from the partner agencies. Specific research activities are delivered through the programs partner facilities.

The program is coordinated by the Remote Sensing Research Centre (RSRC), at the School of the Environment, at The University of Queensland.

Program governance is managed by a Steering Committee which has primary responsibility for the overall strategic direction, management, and performance of the Joint Remote Sensing Research Program.
